Not sure what you mean about the relationship of Elizabeth in 1891, because it looks like Sidney was in the workhouse then:

BURLS, Sidney Inmate Single M 11 1880 Scholar Grays Essex

Registration District: Orsett
Civil Parish: Orsett

Address: Orsett County: Essex

Institution: Orsett Union Workhouse, Orsett

Aw now Helen posted 16.10 today a different Sidney???

Yours has the right year of birth and because the name has been spelt both ways either are possible but knowing his parents were both dead the workhouse was more likely.

Thanks

Kim, yes I think that's a different Sidney altogether. Is the one on the 1911 that I posted the right one, or is it the one in Helen's 1891?

The 1911 was definitely right going by the marriage as father listed as Joshua Burls being correct.

The Sydney in Helen's 1891 was a Florist's apprentice - bit different to a blacksmith's striker!!
