If she was born and always lived in Gravesend until she died she would more than likely be there in 1891.
There is also the chance she is on an image but not on the transcription somewhere, so you could scroll down the whole of Gravesend...but it could take a while

hmmm
is this what a dedicated person would do?
have you ever tried this and was it worth it????

i do agree that it is likely that she would be in Gravesend as she didn't appear to ever be anywhere else!

hi Vera
you are an absolute LEGEND!!!!! :-D :-D

I was just about to post another missing Manley relative on here as I can't find William's son - also called Wililam.
mind you, I can't find any of the family in the 1881 census!!!

William (hubert) Eversfield Manley b 1874 Brighton Sussex to William Eversfield Manley and Eliza Ann Chapman. Eliza was born in 1846 Enfield Middlesex. Eliza and William were married at St marylebone London and then son William was born in Brighton 14 April 1874.
i can find no mention of William Junior at all except in the 1911 census.

wouldn't it be great to find 2 or three generations together - how convenient!!!!

Astra
you are amazing!!

i am not sure how I managed to miss this one.
i was putting the birthplace as Middlesex and not searching widely enough.
also his date of birth is slightly wrong - really 24/10/1846 but he says he is 62 in 1911 so he is consistenly incorrect for his age at least!!

their son William married in Newington London in 1896 so I guess he is around somewhere, too!

thank you so much

hi Vera
thank you for doing all this research on my behalf!!

i too, think that William b 1874 must have been away at sea in 1891 - is there anyway of finding this out if he is not listed on a vessel???
I can't find him or his parents in 1881 either. he would have been 6 years old

his Father, William b 1846-1849 ish was a journeyman watchmaker and jeweller so I can understand him not being with William, but I would have though his mother Eliza would have been...

another question, Vera...for the purposes of the forum,
how do I make this conversation about William instead of Betsey as the topic header says???

thank you again for everything

vanessa :-D <3

Vera Report 18 Dec 2011 11:43

Am trying to work out the wording for the topic...as it is best to keep the same thread........I suppose you could put something like... Edit "also trying to find William E Manley with either parents in 1881" and add his and his parents details to the top of your thread. What do you think ?

Regards Vera :-)

I have looked on The Genealogist site for 1891 and it says there are57 names Betsey Ware Manley or similar. I have used my free look up on here but you may like to try this if you havent already.

Merry Christmas.

To change the title click on edit in your first message. I suggest you add "Still looking", something short anyway.

Or if you keep nudging your post by adding replies with the word "nudge" in them people will realize you're still looking. Don't do it too often. Just when it drops off the first page.

thank you so much for your suggestions.
hope this title works.. i know people don't like it when there are several posts about the same person.

Belinda - great idea about the geneologist. might save up a few queries to take advantage of this freebie!

thanks again
