Maureen

Many thanks

I tend to agree with you about the 1881 Census - although why would ahe declare herself a widow?

Maureen

How did you get the 1901 Census info?

Have tried on ancestry without success.

Thanks

LOL! That's the mystery question, isn't it?? I really think the enumerator just got a little muddled.

(Still trying to figure out why my grandmother is on the 1901 census as "Betsey". It wasn't her name and no one ever called her that.... :-D).

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone

Wonder if anyone can breath life into this query

"Where was William's wife Eliza at the time of the 1851 Census. William is shown as married i.e. not widower."

Thanks in advance

I wonder if Eliza died - although William is shown as married in 1851:

Looks like you have found a child of William & Eliza - sadly both appear to have died.

Using Family Search Peter Nichols and his first wife Sarah Redgewell had a daughter Elizabeth Sarah Nichols born 26 Nov 1808 and christened 09 Dec 1808 St Gregory, Sudbury, Suffolk.

Family Search also shows Peter Nicholls and his wife Sarah having a daughter Elizabeth Nicholls born 26 November 1808 but christened 06 Nov 1814 in All Saints, Sudbury, Suffolk.

Have been unable to find the marriage of Peter & Sarah Redgewell or any other Peter & Sarah marriage at that time.

HELP!

Potty

Potty Report 3 Jan 2012 11:14

familysearch also has a Sarah (b1813), daughter of Peter and Elizabeth, baptized on the same day as Elizabeth.

There were a lot of Nicholls living in Sudbury at this time, but I do not recognise a marriage between Peter & Elizabeth.

Just a coincidence?

Having checked on Family Search, You meant Sarah born to Peter & Sarah. Curious that they chose to christen Elizabeth with her sister, when Elizabeth had already been christened in 1808 at St Gregory.

Wonder when Sarah died - always like to kill them off - so untidy not to.
