Hi all... I'm after some help after numerous failed attempts at locating my ancestor's 1891 Census. From the 1881 Census, details are:
Parents: William Wright (1852 – 1886) b. Glasgow, Lanarkshire Scotland “cotton yarn dyer”
Grace Wright (nee Bathgate) (1851 - ?) b. Glasgow, Lanarkshire Scotland
Children: John Archibald Campbell Wright (1873 – 1943) b. Glasgow, Lanarkshire Scotland
Martha Alice Wright (1876) b. Rochdale, Lancashire England
Janet Wright (1877) b. Rochdale, Lancashire England
Anna Wright (1880) b. Pendleton, Lancashire England
They lived at 13 Yarborough Street
Many thanks :)

ps: Merry Christmas to all xx

I was about to post - when I lost the internet connection - that I think Barbara is (W)right - sorry! - except I suspect Annie is actually 10 and is Charles' own daughter (why would they have a child together and call her Annie when they already have an Anna

Good finds Barbara and Maureen!

TashnBen have a tree on Ancestry and the death in 1886 is unsubstantiated...it's too much of a coincidence for the ages and places of birth to match as well as their given names. It really needs someone with credits to Scotlandspeople to have a look at the document rather than the transcript. The Wright children have to be step-children

Yes, how I wish that Ancestry would let us see the originals of the Scotland censuses. I never rely on transcribed versions, always want to look at the originals. I wonder if there'a a site that lets you see them?

Hey, Maureen, don't I always make sense? NOT!

You need credits on Scotlandspeople

MarieCeleste Report 23 Dec 2011 15:21

Well, I had a few credits on SP that I haven't got any use for at present. Nosiness got the better of me!

I'll send the originals to tashnben.

1891 census:
Annie is most definitely 10.
Charles is a labourer/engineer. John a Railway Engine Cleaner. Martha is a Cloth Capper and Janet a Machine Stitcher.

Marriage 23/01/1885:
Charles (widower) a ploughman. Son of Charles Simpson (ploughman) and Mary McArthur (both deceased)

Grace (widow), former loom weaver. Daughter of Thomas Bathgate (draper maker) and Martha Buchanan (both deceased).

Am not seeing an obvious death for William Wright .....

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 23 Dec 2011 15:52

No I had a nose too...nothing in Lancashire that matches age between 1881 and 1885. Wonder if they moved back to Scotland before he died? And then that's how she met Charles?

Season's Greetings to one and all!
