Thank you all for your help this evening.

All this to find he father of John Henry Thomas!

I can find two records for someone with the abover name. both born in B'ham and in tne same year with a brother called William ( which are the facts I am certain)

One gives the parents as Richard and Fanny, the other as Edwin and Mary.

Hopefully now I can find out ;-)

Thought I'd throw this marriage into the 'ring'...it might be nothing but thereagain it might be something!

Marriages Jun 1903
Bowkett Herbert King's N. 6c 945
>>>Ratheram Rosina King's N. 6c 945
Reevely Frank King's N. 6c 945
Wright Jane King's N. 6c 945

Not sure which male she married yet

Gaynor

Gaynor Report 27 Dec 2011 17:18

Mmm Prehaps Williams Mum was Rosa and not Hannah, but I understand that a couple of Rosa's children died not long after birth, and often children were called after their dead siblings then.

thanks again

MargaretM Report 27 Dec 2011 17:11

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thomas William H Ratheram Birmingham 6d 299

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Margee

Confusing is correct

Hannah's sister Mary Rhoda married a Victor Brooks, so I assuming Hannan sent himto live with them. I have this bit in my tree but why know one in the family knew she had been married before I do not know. Again I am sure she is the right Hannah Mapp due to the Bournville/kongs Norton connection. and I can only fine one Hannah C Mapp.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 27 Dec 2011 17:04

Sidney's birth with mother's maiden name Ratheram? (Rotherham?)

Births Dec 1916 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thomas Sidney Ratheram Birmingham 6d 249

Have found John's Service Records:

British Army WWI Service Records, 1914-1920

Name: John Henry Thomas
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1876
Age at enlistment: 39
Residence: 4/35 Thomas St, Highgate B'ham
Document Year: 1915
Regimental Number: 168922
Regiment Name: MT Learn?? Army Service Cor??
Number of images: 19

He worked in the cycle trade at attestation. Strangely, the sections for wife and children aren't completed. Next of kin is given as his father - Richard Thomas.

Gaynor

Gaynor Report 27 Dec 2011 16:56

OK - names of children with each of Johns Partners

No DOB's are in the bible- it is just a list of names

With Rosa
ALBERT
HAROLD
SIDNEY (married Hubbys grandmother after William died)

With Hannah
William brn 1909 ( Hubbys grandfather)
Elsia
Gladys
John AKA Jack

This is getting confusing! This seems to be Arthur & Hannah's son, George in 1901:

1901 England Census
about George Hague Name: George Hague
Age: 10
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1891
Relation: Nephew
Gender: Male
Where born: Birmingham, Warwickshire, England

Civil parish: Kings Norton
Ecclesiastical parish: Kings Heath All Saints
Town: Kings Heath
County/Island: Worcestershire
Country: England
Registration district: Kings Norton
Sub-registration district: Kings Norton
ED, institution, or vessel: 19
Neighbors: View others on page
Household schedule number: 202
Piece: 2805
Folio: 165
Page Number: 30
Household Members: Name Age
Victor C Brooks 25
Mary P Brooks 24
Ernest G Brooks 6 Months
Gertrude Mapp 26
George Mapp 21
George Hague 10

Gertrude Mapp seems to be sister-in-law and George Mapp brother-in-law, both are single.

Gaynor, I'm not finding a death of a Rose Thomas in 1974 who would be of a suitable age - unless she remarried?
