Thank you so much for that i don't have credits to view so i only saw
Ellen Eddens status but it did say about children alive and deceased
so i don't know which child that was .Now all i need to find is what happened to him after 1911 and when he died .Once again thanks much appreciated .I wonder if he stayed single or maybe joined the army .Do you know how i find out if James did join The Army . :-)

Margaret Report 17 Jan 2012 21:58

Hi

sorry it did appear jumbled right .......James thomas Smith born 1883 Eydon .Parents John Smith born 1854 woodford Halse & Ellen Edden
born 1851 Eydon .James had 7 siblings .I cannot find James anywhere after 1901 as you see from the above threads i thought i had but i had
been looking at the wrong James !!. I know he was in Stratford on Avon
in 1891 as my grandad was born there ,In 1901 he was with Ellens
brother William Edden In Kings Norton ,I cannot find him in 1911
but on Ellen in 1911 census she is in Bitteswell it says 7 children alive
1 deceased .I am sure i can account for all now except James so i
am looking to see if i can find him .

Margaret, could you clarify exactly who is your known ancestor (with documented proof) that you are working back from?

Margaret Report 17 Jan 2012 12:12

Hi all

well i was barking up the wrong tree with Elah etc no relation to my Everlyn Clarke & James Smith .James born 1882 eydon .I have found James 1891 Stratford on avon on census 1901 Kings Norton With a william edden who was his uncle but nothing for 1911 .also found that his mother Ellen was on 1911 census as having 7 children living 1 deceased
so wondering if James died before 1911 .

Never take info from someone's tree as being correct until you've checked it out.

Don't worry about it, Sylvia......some people see only the posts they want to.............

However ..............

I might just be the invisible woman, as Margaret has not acknowledged any of my postings! :-D

I cannot see any other possibility than for Margaret to buy the birth certificate for Elah

we're all just going round in circles and wasting time!

The matter can be solved in less than 5-7 working days if Margaret is in the UK

2-3 weeks if she lives overseas.

and the certificate only costs £9.25 no matter where you live!

There is another thread about this woman.......................

http://www.genesreunited.co.nz/boards.page/board/living_relatives/thread/1289593

Try looking for a death with an alternative spelling for the woman's name

Hi Andrew
Have just contacted my cousin in NZ and she says siblings are right as far as she knows but saying Everlyn Clarke & James Thomas Smith Parents ,

Siblings Henry ,Victor &James
Mags

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Jan 2012 21:33

I think you need to buy her birth certificate ...... and get the correct names of her parents!

Thta tree on ancestry says the parents of Elah May Smith are Tom Smith and Eliza Jane Clarke

and her grandparents (ie, parents of Tom Smith) are Ephraim Smith and Catherine Wright

which is not what you are saying.

The ONLY way ot be sure is to buy the certificate

go to http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

You have to sign up, but it is free.

Follow instructions for birth certificate, using information EXACTLY as posted above and copied to here

ie,
Births Jun 1915

Smith Elah N - Clarke Lutterworth 7a 7

Answer YES when asked if you have the GRO Index (or Reference) Number ................ that's the 7a 7 at the end of the entry.

It will cost you £9.25, p&p included.

Hi all

thanks for your replies & interest .Elah is female and i think the siblings
Victor .Henry ,Victor are right but the Elah mentioned married to a kendall i thought was right but after messaging a relative through here its not .
Elah's grandparents were John Smith & Ellen Edden and her parents were
i think James smith & Everlyn Clarke but i could be wrong on parents .

When you look at the original scan of the register for that 1915 birth I'm sure that it is actually Elah M. There is a white mark on the top right of the "M" which i think has caused it to be transcribed as "N". If you compare the other capital M's and N's on the register then you may see what I mean.

Origin and Meaning of the Name Elah

Gender: Both
Origin: Hebrew
Meaning: Oak tree

Can also mean pistachio tree or goddess.
