Hi Sarah-Jane,I wouldn't worry too much about the age matching.
After all his age seemed to vary on the census returns.

What was his address on certificate, was his dad alive and who were the witnesses?

The address for Joseph was Chalk Street Stockton

Jane Wards father is listed as John Ward Lawson Street Stockton also an Engine driver.
Hi Mary

Witness was Annie Ward and (the mark of) William Jackson

Marriage was at the Registry Office in Stockton.

As a (nee) Lund maths was never my strong point either so maybe I can blame the genes!

It's the engine driver bit that seems odd

Yes that is a bit odd, unless it was the guy filling the certificate that got it wrong.
I have checked all the census's for William and Ann who I think were Josephs parents and he is 1851/61/Agricutural labourer 71 farm labourer amd 1881 general labourer.
1891 in Dewsbury no proffesion.

But it was determined that in 1881 Joseph (Jas Lund)
Sarah Jane Lund born Hull
Bey Lund relative (Belford) son of William and Ann)
were the correct family.

I think this is Belford's death.
Belfrid Lund born @ 1857 died Dewsbury Jan 1910 age 57 9b 389.

William and Ann in Dewsbury 1891 with daughter Caroline born 1871.
1901 caroline (Carrie) with brother Charles 1867 and wife Rhoda 1876 nee John son.

Trying to find Belford 1891/1901 is proving difficult.

Thanks for those insights on Mr B Lund, whatever were they thinking of with his name?!
On my Mums side (maiden name Ridge) there's a child just called Ridge Ridge...guess they had such big families they ran out of names to be bothered with!
I had to get a copy of a marriage certificate from 1986 and that came through wrongly transcribed ( I had a photocopy of the original so I knew for a fact it was wrong) so really sometimes there is no hope of trusting what you read!
