I am looking for registered death of Elizabeth Mary Elizabeth Helm born 11th Feb 1850

She married Joseph James Helm 4th Dec 1876 and to my knowledge had her last child in 1882.
Her address at that time was 6, Wellington Street Chelsea where she lived with Joseph James and their children.

Her Husband Joseph James is married for a second time on 14th Oct 1905 to a Charlotte Mary Smith. there is one son listed, Joseph Alexander born 1905 and died 1906

Joseph James appears to have 10 Children born from Sept 1869-feb 1905, two are called Joseph. I cannot work out which ones are from which marriage.

If there is a death registered for Elizabeth Mary Ann it should be between the dates of aprox 1882-1905

Thelma there is a William Frederick Helm born 23rd feb 1891 so that must be the son of Joseph and Charlotte.

Was it usual to live together in those days befor marriage?

He has a child with his prevous wife Elizabeth in 1882

It would be usual for a couple to live together before marriage if one of them was not free to marry.


Perhaps Joseph wasn't free to marry until 1905?

All details add up, Joseph was married twiceto Elizabeth and then Charlotte but when did his first wife Elizabeth die?

Elizabeth had her last child in 1882, a boy and Joseph and new spouce Charlotte had their first child in 1991

I didnt realise that things like that went on in those days,

I have Joseph listed at 6 Allingon/Wellington Street Chelsea when he was married to Elizabeth and at the time of his marriage in 1905 when he married Charlotte.

I wonder if Joseph and Elizabeth divorced but they were from a working class family and it would have been very expensive in those days.
