I think the best chance you have is to get that cert and hope the death was registered by someone in the family?

Unless you come across anyone else connected to the family who might have more info, which does sometimes happen,

Hi Mary-Rose,I have looked at photos sorry to say they are not the same person,my cousin who I went to see yesterday is a lady named Jean Matthews, who has made numerious comments on Romany Road, and put in a lot of photos on there,
Rose I have checked out the Violet death you put on for 1919,it could be her the only dout is it says abt 21,our Violet in question would of been 24,I know they made many a mistake with things in the old days, another I found which I thought may of been her daughter that died at about the same time was a Violet S Green 1918 December, also West Ham,aged 4 years old.???

I have just had a look Mary, there is a strong resemblance!

Mary Report 19 Jan 2012 20:29

I googled Genty Hope Romany Gypsy.
Ist result titled

Were are they? Romany Road
Click on and scroll down to 4 photos.

I might be seeing things but the bottom photo on left of Lady and 3 children bears a resemblence to the photo of Violet on Ancestry.

I put the photos on bottom line of computor and kept looking at them,my hubby also thought they were alike.

I've come back to this death, as you mentioned that she may have died in the influenza epidemic, I think it might be worth a try?

Just leaving this as a thought, if the photo is not Violet, but her sister Genty there is a marriage , the two children of which would be around the right age for those in photo...remembering that two sisters might have looked very alike ?

silly question but it doesn't have the daughter's names? The trouble is of course that whilst it may say Violet on the reverse it may not be Violet in the photo? are we sure that it is? ( I have photo's that someone scribbled a name on and they got it wrong lol)

If Mr Green was an actor and the photo was taken Canning town, then he was possibly working at the music hall there but that doesn't help with a date unfortunately.

If pushed, looking at the photo I'd say from the child's boots about 1920 but that's just based on a photo I have of similar at that date.

the studio was in Canning town,London.may I just say thank you for keeping in on this Rose.

Rambling Report 18 Jan 2012 23:32

Is it a studio photo with the name of the photographer on reverse? that can sometimes help to date when it was taken

Rambling

Rambling Report 18 Jan 2012 23:31

well there is no record of a marriage to Green, and no sign of her on the 1911 not under the name of Hope at least,

Hi Rose.
the details I have put on here are from my cousin, who I visited today she had the photos of Violet who was her fathers sister, his name was Golden Hope-born 1899,in the photo was her two daughters as written on the back of the photo, and as I said earlier she was supposed to have died, and my cousin wanted to know of whatever happened to her other daughter.
