Is there someone that can help me please?
I am looking for the Marriage for my Uncle, Francis Benbow Morgan, born Brentwood Essex 1907.and Mary Kathleen Adair, from Ballykinler, Northern Ireland.
Frank died in 1942 (Commonweath War Dead) and is commemorated at Ballykinler.
Kathleen remarried DONOVAN and I believe died at Ballycastle.

Sorry, not much to go on. Can't see anything on any other tree either :-)

Any help would be appreciated

Hello Jeremy - do you know for sure that they married in Ireland?

Thanks for the response.
Let's just say that I could not find anything in the UK marriage records and I know, from my Aunt (still living at 88) that Kathleen was from Ballykinler.

Frank was a Quartermaster Seagent with the Royal Army Ordanance Corp and died in a motorbike accident in Hinckley! So the marriage is unlikely to have occured other than in Ireland. Their one child was born in Essex at about the time of Frank's death. His parents were living at Brentwood at the time. so the location for the birth is plausable.

Always a problem tracking down common surnames! :-)

Going by Frank's birth of 1907, he would of not married until after 1922, and I'm afraid N.Ireland BMD's stop at 1922. The only place you'll get the marriage from is GRONI in Belfast.

Thank you Maura

I feared as much !!

Northern Ireland is not an area that significantly features in my tree so had very little information on what was available.

At least I now know the extent of info available and where to go so thanks again

From familysearch
Birth Mary Catherine Adair Newtownards July-Sept 1915 Volumn 1 Page 699.
Northern Ireland B/M/Ds only go up as far as 1922.
On Francis Benbow Morgans headstone it says husband of Mary Catherine.
Betty.

Thanks,
Yes I had seen that and was wondering who to believe!!
The Headstone according to CWGC also says son of William Henry and ROSE.
His mother was actually Mary Ann Hester Morgan (nee Sheppee) :-D
She died 22 June 1944 and his father in 1946
Family is on the 1911 Census at 47 Ramnoth Rd Walsoken

Life's little mysteries! What would we do without them? :-)

Hi. Just come across this thread. Francis Morgan would have been my mothers dad. My mother Sheila Francis padgett (formerly Morgan) was born 24th March 1942 in Essex. She still lives in Ballykinlar, Northern Ireland. My grandmother Catherin Donovan (formally Morgan and maiden name Adair passed in 1995)

Please let me know if your still seeking information.

Regards.
