Totally agree Dea and Braken hence my comment on all advice being good. I just always have to mention the other side of things lol It's one of my traits that I can't seem to break.

Did I mention pets bothering you every 2 minutes? lol

Some good points and I totaly aggree I have a family and my mother who lives in the next road to look after

It is just so frustrating when you are trying to help and have asked for more info and days later still waiting for a reply ;-)

Some good advice here however, I can imagine there are many people that can't always have time to stay at their computer. They intend to post and then return later to check replies.

Not everyone has computers so may take the opportunity to post on friends/family/library/work computer when they are able.

A lot of people have commitments and get called away, not just children but looking after the elderly or infirm. Sometimes you cannot plan of having a little time awaiting replies.

Sometimes there are things that get in the way i.e. electricity cuts etc...

Then there's the forgetful!

I agree also and thank you for posting this !

We 'helpers' get a bit over excited, I fear, in trying to find info for the posters.

We usually have several questions to ask in order to help us find the correct info for you.

Often, when we get no 'feedback', we go on to other threads and thus you lose out!

PLEASE try to post a request when you have a little time to spare to stay on line as the help (and the questions) can come back quite quickly on here !!

I think some people, especially ones new to Genes, are surprised at how quickly look-ups are done and replies are posted. It took me by surprise when I first started out. I do agree with you, though. It's best to leave asking for help until you can spare a little time to check the boards for replies. Sometimes people say that they won't be back until a certain time which is a help.

If you have posted a topic asking for help please stay online to answer questions we may have

I inderstand you may have young children or some other reason and may not be able to but PLEASE keep comming back on

I have answered or tried to answer and help people and days later still waiting to see if they have had all the help they needed

People put one message on and several people will answer and wait for an answer sometimes no reply at all

Please come back on if only to say thanks for your help
;-) :-D
