Do you have him in any census/know other family member's names?
Was he a genuine Professor, or was it likley to be an aquired title as he taught Spanish?

This might be one of the ER entries which Potty found, but not necessarily your Mr Clarke

There are a lot of Electoral Roll entries, which I cannot view but there is this one - the transcription is wrong. His name is Henry Butler Clark and the marriage date is 25 Dec 1905 not 1906:
