Rose Emma Owen died 12/2/1960 Boston Lincs.

If she was Emma's daughter before marriage you would need proof,I can't see her on 1891/1902 census.

On another tree I have found Rose Owen 1883, daughter of Elias & Emma, as well as the Alice you found, both prior to marriage thus potentially both using Owen as surname.

I don't have the birth or marriage certificates for Gladys, I will probaby end up ordering them as I'll need at least one of the above for confirmation. But if someone else already has a certificate ...

It seems possible that Alice Owen 1888 is the mum of Harry and Gladys,but you would need the birth cert of Gladys to confirm.

Do you have the marriage cert for Gladys?

There is someone on here with Alice Owen 1887 born Scrivelsby,maybe you should try and contact them to see if they have any info as to her being the mum of Harry or Gladys.

But where's Ezekiel's wife? Suggests Emma died between 1845-51?

There's also some confusion over the Ann / Anne spellings, I need to draw this to make sense of it. It certainly looks as if one of them died very young - but which?

how does Holbeach fit with Horncastle?

They are about 40-50 km apart, north and south of Boston, so not impossible? Died while travelling? No, I think I'm trying too hard. This Ann was born and died in 1842, the other two were 1841 & 43.

I think there's a misisng generation between Maria Owen 1844 and Gladys Owen (Cowlam) 1906 and I don't have a candidate yet. Maybe I need to go through this all again ...

That could explain a) why they are both the same age on the 1871, and b) why Harriett is shown as Nurse Child and Emma as Step Child.

Emma A W owen Billinger 86, wrongly transtribed should be 36 error in the birth yr has 1815 should be 1865, look at the very top on the census.

Don't know who Glady's parents are?? or Harry Owen who is the grandson of Emma in 1911??

And, if those records are correct / relevant, where does a Gladys Owen fit? What am I missing here?

Keith, I posted a possible marriage of Harriet, it should be on pg 1, she died in 1899, if it's correct.

Maria Owen had two children before marrying George Brackenbury in 1868. They retained their surnames.

Emma married Elias Billinger.

Then we have two young Owenses, Harry 1908 with the Billingers and "my" Gladys 1906 with the Brackenburys. Possibly both children of Harriet?
