Mary's age seems to vary a lot in the census. It's possible she was married before civil registration.

By the way, Capwell is most likely Casswell. The "long s" was common in handwriting then.

there is a few of the relatives missing (my mothers family tree), the children of edward and mary are: lura, agnotania, john henry alphonso, eleanor , vandelieen, vandebuer, georgiana, frederick augustus, mary
the connection to me is john henry alphonso (great grandfather) his son John frederick henry smith, his daughter rosabella (my mother), there is no american influence,there is a gypsy connection and an irish connection

Someone on Ancestry has Edward Smith 1822 married to Maria/Mary Osgerby born 1821 Boston daughter of thomas 1794? and Lucy Osgerby.
I can't find Mary or a marriage but there is a Thomas Osgerby 1794 and Lucy 1795 on 1851 census.
