There does not seem to have been anyone alive around that time by that name in the whole of the Country - There must be a mistake somewhere!!

Very clearly It has been suggested to me that she may have been from a gypsy background. The birth certificate says mark for mother Mary Clewing

Hi
I am up against a brick wall!!
On the birth certificate I have for Augustina Smith February 1859 Sleaford Mothers maiden name is CLEWING
However I cannot find a Mary Clewing anywhere
The marrriage I have for Augustina's father Edward Smith is to Mary Anne Capwell Sleaford March quarter 1855
This tallies with census information about this family in Sleaford. Edward was a tailor. Jermyn Street Sleaford
I cannot find a record of Mary Clewing marrying a Capwell if she had been a widow before marrying Edward Smith.
Can anyone find a Mary Clewing anywhere?
