If no one has been able to find army records for him on ancestry then they may not have survived as some ww1 records were burnt in the 2nd ww

Looks like same family. Sometime after 1911 they relocated to Ystrad Mynach Glamorganshire. Unsure whether Ellis recruited from Festiniog or Glamorgan????

If he joined at the start in 1914 he would have only been 16. I cant find anything about him whilst he was in the army.

Yeah this seems to be the correct family. I know that the family moved to Ystrad Myanch Hengoed South Wales some time inbetween 1911 and 1930????

What you are saying makes sense and I appreciate your help very much. The last one, I would say is definitly the family, at least this is the lead i have been following so far.
The copy birth certificate I have for Ellis Williams was translated into English. I am wondering whether there is a possibility of the original showing him with a surname.

I am wondering how I can find info on the biologocal dad too. My uncle, in the past, paid someone to do the research fro this and it all came back with the wrong names becasue of the repeat of names in the village!!!! There are many Jane Ellens!

`This is not the family. There are so many with the same name from the same place. Ellis Williams had no surname on his birth cert. His mam, Jane Ellen Edwards married david roberts shortky after his birth. He was brought up as ellis Willim Roberts but changed his name to Ellis William Edwards as soon as he could I dont know whether he enrolled in the army as Edwards or Roberts. His marriage cert name him as Edwards and his children are named Edwrads.
I have a photogrpah of him ion the army and on the back is written 6th darggon gards 3rd troop 6th cavalry reg 1918.
To make matters more complicated he was later known as William Ellis Edwardsinstead of Ellis William Edwards!!!! Confusing eh, especially for a beginner!!!!!

Thanks all for your replies. He was not the one from Accrington. My grandather survived the war and died in 1973 in Bedwellty.

His mothers name was Jane Ellen Edwards from Festiniog.
