Unfortunately many WW1 service records didn't survive the Blitz in WW2. The building where they were stored was bombed and many records were burnt completely. Those that did survive often have burnt parts to them They are known as the burnt records.

Your Walters Army record didn't survive .

I know Walter died, I just ment about his war records.
Margeret is very elderly and in a nursing home, I will find out from her son, my boss, the person I am doing this research for.
Think it might be worth getting Walters death certificate, because they dont even no where he is buried or what he died off.
Thank you for all your help.
:-)

Not sure if she remarried
She was born approximately 1889
I do know that she was widowed, will have to find out if she did remarry.

I was just wondering if it was possible to have any further help on Walter Andrew Gary.
There is a Walter Andrew Gary on the 1901 census which looks like it is the Walter I am interested in, but the only thing is it says he is in the Navy.
On his marriage certifice of 1917 it says that he was a Private and his place of residence as A.S.C active service.
If anyone can shed any further light on this I would be much appreciated.

I posted a possible in the first reply above yesterday. But it's difficult to be sure that it is the correct one without more information.
