Thanks Wayne and Margee.

We have Frederick and Selina in 1901 and know all about them after that. We also know all about Selina back to her birth.

I think we need to get Frederick's birth cert - he is on the 1871 as 8 months old and there is 1870 birth that would tie up - then we can look for John and Margaret's marriage.

Still can't find John and Margaret before 1871. Apparently there is a family story about an Irish connection so possibly they lied about their POBs.

Thanks again everyone for your help.

Thanks, Gwyn, have just PMd you. Yes, That is the family I have been trying to tie Frederick to.

The Frederick I have found in 1891 is living at the same address as on the marriage cert and George Blumire, one of the marriage witnesses is at the same address.

I think that is a result.

Thanks, Dea, for the offer but problem solved!! :-)

Edit: should have said, Frederick in the 1891 is sweep.

Potty Report 7 Mar 2012 14:14

Yes, that's them, Margee. I am trying to trace Frederick back but with a father called John Brown it is not easy. I am pretty sure that I have them but it all depends on John's occupation and that is very unclear on the marriage cert. But, I have found Frederick in 1891 with the same occupation as I think John's is on the cert.

Tracey agrees with me that it could be what I think it is.

Potty Report 7 Mar 2012 13:02

Agree, Tracey, very unclear. I think the image is of the original cert from 1894, so I would expect it to be a bit faded!

If I zoom it right up, I think I can make it out but the person I am helping doesn't agree with what I think.

Anyone else like to have a go?

Potty Report 7 Mar 2012 12:28

I now have an image of Selina's marriage to Frederick Brown but it is not very clear. It is Frederick's father's occupation that I am trying to find.

If I PM the image as an attachment, could somebody look at it for me? I know what I think it is (and want it to be!) but would like other opinions.

Thanks

Potty

Potty Report 4 Mar 2012 16:44

Yes, it is very confusing, Margee. I have been looking at this since midday, as well as a few hours yesterday, and wish I could refresh myself!

Had enough for today - if anybody posts anything else, I will be back tomorrow.

But, please don't spend time going backwards with Selina - I have everything on her.

Edit: Margee, just noticed your addition to the passenger list, so she was a widow when she emigrated and was going to join her "husband" - presumably the brother George she is supposed to have married - will look at the Ontario marriage link you gave earlier - but not tonight!

Thanks both of you.

Potty

Potty Report 4 Mar 2012 16:39

Thanks, K, but that is not the Selina we are looking for. Our Selina was Selina Frances Hodder and we do have her in 1901 with Frederick. It is the (supposed) marriage to George that is we can't find.
