Sylann, I've just sent you the service records by pm - when you see where he served and that he was discharged to Manchester I think it's pretty certain it's the right man.

The birth for James Thomas is also on FamilySearch. He was born Murree, Bengal - same place as Bridget Maria married. Is this a coincidence?

It was suggested on the other thread that the 1901 may not be the correct family. Here's the birth details from the 1901:

I'd suggest trying to work forward from what we know of John, Margaret and Maria. However, I've searched for ages and can't find anyone remotely suitable in the 1871 - it's possible they were already in India by then.
