Hi, first time posting and I am keeping my fingers crossed someone can help.
I am tracing the Pendleton family from West Derby and I have found the children one being my nan Elsie Pendleton, however she was born 6 March 1917 and I can only find a birth for June1917. I am trying to find out her mums maiden name to take my tree back a bit further.
All the other children where born before 1912 is there any other way of finding out a maiden name.?

Anyone have any ideas.

Thank you

The birth was registered in the Apr-May-Jun qtr.

As the parents had 6 weeks in which to register a birth, it's quite feasible for a birth in early March to be registered after 1st April.

The mother's maiden surname will be shown on the index which you have found

You only need ONE record to find the MMN for a group of siblings

The birth you have found is for the Quarter ending June 1917 so someone born in March would be registered in that quarter.

I have looked on FreeBMD for the birth you found but I cannot find it?

Did you find it on FreeBMD??

Hello Lisa and welcome to the boards.

As your Nan was born (The first quarter) March 1917........her birth was probably not registered until the second quarter.

June Quarter opf 1917 consists of all the births REGISTERED in April, May and June of that year.

Your Nan could have been born in March but only registered in April so would appear in the June index.

Can you give the details you've found as I can''t see an Elsie Pendleton registered in June 1917 on freebmd.

Thank you for your quick reply. The maiden name on my nans birth was Stevens so will go from there.

Once again thank you.
