Hi Diane,
Good Luck with it all.
Also I just noticed there are WWI rolls for what seem to be sons of Malcolm.

Kellie and Persie

You guys are amazing

Kellie the photo of John is Malcolms son but the Malcolm is not our Malcolm as ours settled in North Canterbury although he did spend some time in Hamilton later on where he remarried after divorcing his first wife Elizabeth (and therein lies a facinating story)

Diane lives in NZ and have given her links to the NZ Cylopaedias and told her she can also purchase the discs and from where. She has an excellent archive place near her as well... it's just a case of knowing where to find things and get started.

We'll get through it okay, thanks Kellie..

Cool,
I sent Diane 2 mentions from NZ Cyclopdiea and 2 pictures..

I could NOT though find anything 'matching' on Scotland census etc which I think we really need to confirm/deny a few details.

Hi Persie

John was possibly a flu epidemic victim according to his death certificate the cause of death was influenza pneumonia which he had for 4 days. Sad to think that today he would probably have survived this illness.

Cheers
Diane

There were a lot of McInnes 's living in Kaikoura around 1915...

Incidentally I see John died 10 November 1918.. aged 39 .. wondered if he was a flu epidemic victim though he is not listed as such.

Hi Kellie

I dont know what I was thinking (blonde moment!) John married Annie Hamilton not Hunt as I said previously another of the family married an Annie Hunt which is were I got the name wrong. On Johns death certificate is has him being married at about 30 and Annie was 43 at the time of his death.

Sad_Mushroom Report 28 Apr 2012 05:17

Hi Diane,
I cannot see a marriage for a John McINNES to an Annie HUNT..

The John mentioned in my last post married an Annie HAMILTON in 1904..

Forgot to ask Sad Mushroom what year do you have Malcolm in Kirikiriroa? My Malcolm did spend some time in the Waikato in fact I believe he remarried in that area. I have him there about 1912/1914. He did return to North Canterbury not sure how long he spent in the Waikato.

Hi Sad Mushroom
I dont think that is the right Malcolm coming over on the Timaru as the dates are way out.
Re the John who was a farmer in Kaikoura this fits in with my Malcolm. The John who was my Malcolms son was born 1878 died 1918 was married to Annie Hunt.

Hiya,
Could this be him?
McINNES. MALCOLM, General Farmer,
Hukanui Road, Kirikiriroa .

If so I have a bit more info and a picture.

Also this may be connected to the man above
McINNES, JOHN, Farmer, "Poranc,
arau," Clarence Bridge, Kaikoura,
((as this John was a son of a Malcolm McINNES))

I am trying to find how Malcom came to New Zealand I cannot find him on any shipping lists (but I'm fairly new to this so might not be looking in the right places for shipping lists) I have worked out from his death certificate that he came over about 1866 and his parents were John and Margaret McDonald. He had a sister Margaret married name Stewart who at some time lived at Maryhill Road Glasgow. (I got this info from Malcolms will.) I dont know if any of his family came over with him or if he came alone.
