David

I did warn you last night that Jax and I could be wrong about everything and anything that we have posted on here!

You really should get at least one of Samuel's marriage certificates to find the name of his father and father's occupation.

I can find no further reference to an Amos Hewitt.

I can't see him on any later censuses

I can't see him on familysearch.com/

I can't see his death

I have found several James Hewitt's dying between 1841 and 1861 in the correct are.

I have found an Ann Hewitt dying in th area between 1841 and 1851

I'm thinking that the Amos on the 1841 is a mistake by the enumerator .....

These are POSSIBLE baptisms for John and mary ....... but they show JAMES and ANN as the parents, and the same place and DATE as a Richard was baptized.

Woh, thanks so much, what a complicated family. Ok, what I do know is that Mary Ann Hirons married Richard Hewitt, I'm sure of this because Hiorns has been mentioned before. Can any of you unravell how this part of the jigsaw fits together, i'm lost! I know it's going to be guesswork, I simply can't afford to go out and get lots of certificates.

Thanks :-)

Ben.

Ben

we cannot unravel it any more than we have WITHOUT you buying a couple of certificates.

We can only go by what is on the internet ............. you NEED those certificates in order to see what is written on there that is not available otherwise.

I'm sorry, I do know how expensive certificates are, and how much this hobby costs, but we quite simply cannot find any more than we have already.

Hi Ben - did you get any further with establishing Richard Hewitt's parents? I am related to Eileen Hewitt (who now lives in NZ) - her family tree is also stuck at Richard.
Thanks
Christine
