jax

If a married woman had a baby 10 years after her husband died ..... the baby would have the husband's name UNLESS the father agreed to his name being on the birth certificate ....................... so yes, any of the younger children could have born of another father

YET, Annice does not seem to have had another child after Edwin in 1892

I wonder if this is her death ........ Nelson is where Edwin was born

Mar 1940 (>99%)

Parkinson Annice 84 Nelson 8e 771

I wonder if he went over first with the intention of Annice and the family joining him later, OR if the marriage had broken down.

Sorry had an appointment now back,
Whitaker is certainly an enigma,
What intrigues me is that Annice has Changed the place she was Born in Both 1891 and 1901 to Yorkshire, When In Fact She was Born in Foulridge which is on the outskirts of Colne in Lancashire

I am glad to find that a Marretta is in the 1891 Census as she was the only Parkinson married to a Houghton I could find that fitted with the 2 GrandChildren in 1911. However could neither find her or James Houghton in 1911.

I had supposed The Whittaker born in 1887 was Annice's but obviously not.
Whitham Parker certainly sounds interesting.

Have Just re- read through all the above info and have discovered that you where able to find Maretta and James in the 1911 Census so have now sorted that part of the Family.

Many Thanks Jax , Sylvia and Flip for your help it is much appreciated,

The American info about Whitaker certainly sounds very Promising.

Not sure if the 1910 US census will give more details, it was on familysearch, but to view you need an ancestry sub - maybe someone else could check it out?
