As i said this need to go back to basics

starting with your birth and parent marriage certs and all the info from both,

the marriage to Fred Barker is dubious at best based on the info you have provided

If the 1941 marriage is wrong then it makes the 52 marriage also questionable

I also cannot find a birth for Ann born abt 1942 with a mmn Alderson but their is these births in that part of the country

Births Mar 1938

Barker Elaine mothers maiden name Alderson Leeds North 9b 551

Births Jun 1944

Barker Jean W mothers maiden name Alderson Wharfedale 9a 309

I can't find a birth of an Ann Barker with mmn = Alderson in 1942 or 1943 but there is one with mmn = Powell.

Yorkshire Birth indexes for the years: 1942
Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Mother's Maiden Name Reference
BARKER Ann Lower Agbrigg / Sandal Wakefield POWELL LO-AG-SAN/2/13

mothers maiden name should be just that - the name she was born with, not her last married name

lancashireAnn Report 30 May 2012 14:02

I think this is where the Alderson & Barker bits come together

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1952
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
JONES * John Arthur ALDERSON Ada Margaret Blackpool Register Office or Registrar Attended Blackpool BL/37/90
JONES * John Arthur BAKER Ada Margaret Blackpool Register Office or Registrar Attended Blackpool BL/37/90 (Barker possibly?)

but still don't see how her father can be both Alfred Thomas Powell AND Thomas
Alderson.

As you say she changed her name from May to Margaret and Ada May's 1st husband was Alfred Thomas Powell are you sure that Ada Margaret Powell is Not Ada May Powell (Alderson) & Alfred Powell's daughter
As I said before the marriage in 1841 only show the bride with 1 surname which at that date usually indicates it is a first marriage.

You say you have certificates. How do the ages of the Ada'a compare

the 1911 census based on the Alderson Powell 1927 marriage may help

their is this birth?

I think you need to go back to basics with this,

Your OP says that you are looking for your mothers birth cert?

you say her name is Ada May Powell but she changed her middle name to Margaret when she married a Fred Barker

your post 29 May 2012 20:30 then says that Ada May Alderson? married your father Alfred Thomas Powell in Bradford Yorkshire in 1927.Father's name Thomas Alderson

why do you think that these two Ada's are the same person? when Ada said on her marriage to Fred Barker that father's name as Alfred Powell and that Ada also had a different middle name
you also say that in 1952 she married a Mr Jones so why do you say Ada M.Barker died in Blackpool surly she would have her death registered as Ada M Jones

you have not given any ages for your mother at any time so until you give a possible dob i fail to see how anyone can find her birth

based on what you have said so far i think these 2 Ada's are not the same people

surly if this is your mother then her maiden name and any other former names will be on your birth cert

Still not sure I see the details from Fred's marriage.

Can you list his age then, his father's occupation and name, and witnesses.

Also, who was the informant on his death cert?

I' confused here Margaret. Why would Ada give her former husband's name as her father when she married Fred Barker. On that marriage she seems to have only one name. If she had been married before in 1941 both names would have been shown on the index.

Anne on the other hand is shown in lancsbmd in 1964 has two surnames, barker & Jones

Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
AHMAD Salar Othman BARKER Ann Blackpool Register Office or Registrar Attended Blackpool BL/21A/217
AHMAD Salar Othman JONES Ann Blackpool Register Office or Registrar Attended Blackpool BL/21A/217
BARKER Ann AHMAD Salar Othman Blackpool Register Office or Registrar Attended Blackpool BL/21A/217
JONES Ann AHMAD Salar Othman Blackpool Register Office or Registrar Attended Blackpool BL/21A/217

edit

sorry - got the Jones bit. Ann presumably named John Jones as her father on her marriage

Sorry all my electricity has been off.... I live in the country....

Vera Ada May Alderson married my father Alfred Thomas Powell in Bradford Yorkshire in 1927.Father's name Thomas Alderson. Ada then married Fred Barker in 1941 father's name given as Alfred Powell and Ada had changed her middle name to Margaret. Ada went on to marry yet again in 1952 in Blackpool to John Arthur Jones.Fathers name given as Alfred Thomas Powell

I have all marriage certificates also Death Certificate of Fred Barker.
with a lot of help on a former thread ( looking for mother's birth certificate )
I think I have come to terms with my mother's past.......... It is Fred Barker that I am interested in. What I know is that Ada Married Fred Barker in Wetherby Yorkshire in 1941. I know that a daughter was born in 1942
named Anne I have no details of this birth. I think that Ann married in 1964 in Blackpool to Salor O Ahmed. again I have no details of this marriage.Anne died in 2004.
I have Ada Margaret Jones Formerly Ada May's Death certificate and the informant was D.A. her grandson. BUT he could not tell me anything about Fred Barker, his mother could not remember her father, and Ada refused to give her any information. SO shocks all round, they did not know we 3 existed. I just want to know about Fred ? did he marry again ? and to whom ? perhaps then I can find out about mother................

Kind regards.
Margaret

On Ada Mays( Margaret) marriage certificate please could you tell me her fathers name and occupation?

You really cannot confirm without a shadow of doubt that you do have the correct certificates

..... you have to some time's take a leap of faith.

It does look to me that Fred's birth, marriage and death certificates match.

Have you actually got Fred's death certificate? That would give you where he was living, and the name of the informant, which MIGHT be Ada

or if Ada died before him, Fred might be her informant

As far as the WW2 records ............. my understanding is that they are at the Department of Defence, that serviceman or spouse can obtain the records free, but anyone else has to provide evidence of death of both serviceman and spouse AND provide evidence of relationship.

There is then a charge of £30 (I think), and a wait of several months.

someone will correct me if I am wrong!

Can any one help / advice... in the search for my mother's birth certificate.
( past help given ) I find that my mother Ada May Powell married a Fred Barker in 1941. I know nothing of Fred Barker but have been trying to make some sense of my mother's past life.Ada Margaret Powell ( Ada changed her middle name ) married Fred Barker 29th.December 1941 I have the marriage certificate and it states that Fred Barker Sapper 2132947 was serving in The Royal Engineers. I have found a Birth and death certificate for a "Fred Barker "
Birth 1/6/1911 Wakefield Road.Bradford.Father's name Fred. Dyer'sLabourer.
Death Cert' Fred Barker D.O.B 1 /6/1911 Place of Death Blackpool.formerly living in Bradford Yorkshire. Ada M.Jones died in Blackpool. How can I be sure that I have the correct certificates ? is there any chance of finding Fred Barker's D.0.B from the Royal Engineers Records.
any help or advice would be appreciated.
Margaret..
