Problem is that there are loads of possibles on 1901 and 1911 census

How would we know which one without some idea of his age, occupation and name of father etc

i am trying to link the owens family with the mather family in Lancashire and this is a marriage on BMD I will be ordering the certificate thanks pam

Continuing my search I now have the Marriage Certificate for Fred Mather to Margaret Owens.

Date of Marriage Noember 11th in Chorley 1916

Fred Mather s Father was William James Mather occupation Miner

Margaret Owens Father was John Owens A Soldier

Fred Mather occupation was at the Bleach Works and his age on marriage certificate is 25

Margaret Owens was a weaver in cotton mills age 24

I am looking for a relationship between Mary J Mather and Doris Owens and hope one of my searches will lead me to this (previous messages about 781 Atherton Road Hindley when Doris was living with Mary during her pregnancy in 1947 It would seem strange for a young pregnant lady to be living with a lady in her seventies if she wasnt related and she only lived with her for the duration of the pregnancy as she is not with her on the following year electoral register .or the previous year 1946 My thoughts are was she a great aunt or similar . I have tried endless searches of lots of families but still cant link them The ultimate aim is to find date of birth for Doris Owens
I decided to look at Fred Mather and Margaret Owens as it proves the 2 families are linked ? Any more help with this would be so gratefully received Pam

Fred Mather address on marriage certificate is 28 Station Road Coppull Lancashire Margaret Owens address is 31 Burlington St Chorley

Witnesses are Ernest Joseph Bowes and Elizabeth Stringfellow

I know you had another thread related to this (not the same!) but did this crop up as a possibility? Might help if you had Mary's identity, assuming it is the same person - I know it's a big assumption!.

i know everthing about Mary J Mather and she died in 1985 in Wigan the one you mention above her probnate is on Ancerstry Her son Sydney Walter Mather inherited the money she left He married Minnie Corner in Bolton in 1934 and they had a child called Valerie and this Valerie is the Grandaughter of Mary J Mather She is the one person that may be able to answer the connection between Doris Owens Valeries husband is on Ancestry as tracing his tree Seddon but he has not ben on line for quite some time I am looking at electoral register in Wigan now to find them Many Thanks Pam
