Thanks again to everyone
Before I close the thread does anyone have World Wide membership to try & get anything from Australia records. I can offer other names which I suspect are the family that went with George other than the infant.

Father - Thomas (Jabez) Payne born c1837
Husband - George Slee Payne born June 1/4 1867 - Age 24
Wife - Annie Pring c1868 - Age 22
Sister 1 - Ann, Anne or more likely to be Annie M Payne c1878
Sister 2 - Elizabeth Jane c1875
Sister 3 - ?
Infant - ?
Can't give any more info
Thanks

Peter

Thanks everyone.
Just before I close the thread, does anyone have worldwide membership to check Australian records. I think I can possibly help with the names of the Payne's that went to Adelade, Australia on the ship that departed from the port of London on the 28th April 1891.
I may be able to help with the passengers names of the Paynes that were on the ship, but I don't know the ships name. I think they were
Father - Thomas (Jabez) Payne c1838 - Age 54 - Tiverton, Devon
Husband - George Slee Payne June 1/4 1867,Age 24 - Tiverton, Devon
Wife - Annie (maiden name - Pring) Payne Age 22, - Tiverton, Devon
Daughter 1 - Annie M Payne - Age 17- Tiverton, Devon
Daughter 2 - Elizabeth Jane Payne Age 15 - - Tiverton, Devon
Daughter 3 - Name unsure - Age 13 - probably Tiverton, Devon
Infant Name not known age 3 month - probably - Tiverton, Devon

I am fairly sure the Father Thomas Jabez Payne returned to Tiverton and died in 1901.

Anything that can be identified and passed on to me would be greatly appreciated. I will keep looking for the 3rd sister & infant names.

I also think Jabez Thomas Payne's wife Elizabeth (Slee) Payne died befor they left for Australia.

Hope more information can be found.

Thanks in advance
Peter

I wonder about occupations on census details and passenger list as the ones on there were farmers and i don't think there have been farmers on census details?

That rules out Alice Payne born 1891 ... thanks Jan will delete.

It was the marriage that has confused me !!!!

We have that jan and we may also have a cat about. NEED to check. This for now - I agree that George & Annie married in 1901 which made it difficult as they married before they left on the ship. Also Thomas (Jabez) born Jabez Thomas Payne died in Tiverton in 1901. They would therefore have had to be back & forth across the big waters. I think care is needed in watching the families are right. We are going to check what we have in print and records here. Looks like different families with same names in parts.
MORE TO CHECK - Please keep going thanks as it is getting confusing.

Not forgotten about help out there, will be looking through paperwork. Anyone found out anything more about George and family.
Has anyone got world wide membership and can search available records for the Payne family arriving in Australia e.g. homes, electoral roles (if records are available, B.M.D's etc
Thanks
