Why is there a problem? Please give the details of the 'problem'

The info is clear enough on the 1851 census.

You haven't said where your info differs from the other person's - and, until you do, there is no way we can help

There is a rather garbled tree on Ancestry that shows Deborah marrying 3 times - first to John Jeremiah Williams. It doesn't have Thomas and Phoebe's marriage

ErikaH

there are TWO thomas Baker & Phoebe marriages in Staffordshire
a) Phoebe Groice in 1825 Wolverhampton

b) Phoebe carter in 1827 Womborn

perhaps one of you has the wrong Phoebe

there are a lot of children on family search born to a Thomas & Phoebe which given the dates of them cannot possibly be from the same family

Deborah is one of the Cosely lot

beer seller & butcher are perhaps not mutally exclusive

I have a few relatives who were innkeepers and carpenters and one who lived in The Butcher's Arms but who describes himself as a butcher

See the 1841's I posted.................they clarify just about everything, I think

Apart from which Phoebe married which Thomas. of course.

But at least it proves that the apparent 'common ancestors' are, in fact, not.

Potty

Potty Report 21 Aug 2012 16:50

To add to the 1841 that Reggie posted, this man is living with them:

Name:

Jacob Carter
Age:25
Estimated Birth Year:abt 1816
Where born:
Staffordshire, England

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 21 Aug 2012 16:51

Looking at the dates of the children...I would suggest that the earlier marriage was for Thomas the MINER

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 21 Aug 2012 16:52

I've done as much as I intend to on this one............have to be elsewhere

Reggie

I have 1841 census info but on the 1851 it as Phebe b 1807 in Sedgley and that is the same as the other persons tree If I can find the births for Thomas and Phebes daughters Margaret 1839 or Deborah 1844 both born in Sedgley I will send for one of the birth cert's and hopefully Phoebes maiden name

Mary

Just popped back to see if you'd picked up the info

No-one can do any more to help you if you can't see that there are TWO families

I wish you luck

I don't know who you are Potty but your a darling I've looked and re- looked at the 1841 census and it just never clicked till you just posted Jacob Carter could be Phebe's brother so I think I have the right Thomas and Phebe in my tree so maybe it's the other persons tree which is wrong
