I have just looked into Henry W Cook and there is also a death record for the same month, so I'm assuming he is another of the 3 deceased and possibly died just before the census took place maybe?

Polly - I'm not too sure about this record, as I know my great Aunt (Emma) was actually born in April 1906. I shall look into this more though. Thanks! :-)

All you can do is list the Cook births in Paddington and the cook deaths in Paddington in the same time. And then only way of proving/disproving will be to purchase certificates.

At least you have a small window in a small area.

My great-grandparents married in 1871 and in the 40 years before the 1911 census they moved from within Staffordshire three times then to Scotland back to Staffordshire then to Liverpool then to Shropshire and then back to Staffordshire before settling in Newport. I found out when the 1911 census was released that there were three children who never appeared on the censuses who had died. I have finally narrowed my choice to three after many many months of trying and have sent for the certs....watch this space for results positive or negative!!

Thank you for replying! :-)

Yes, that census reference is indeed them.

Andrew - Thank you for the 2 birth records. I had already come across the record for Henry W Kemp, but the Sarah Kate Cook I hadn't.

Many thanks again!

Jonesey Report 27 Aug 2012 19:15

If the couple married in 1905 and remained in the same area between their marriage and the 1911 census look for Cook Births/deaths in that area between those dates.

Look at www,freebmd.org.uk A free site

Henry Cook & Sarah Cook (nee. Kemp)

Do any of you kind people know the right places to search when it comes to looking for the birth/baptism/death records of children who died?

According to the 1911 census, the above named had 4 children, of which only 1 was still living (my great aunt).

All I have to go on is the surname "Cook" and the possible years of birth/baptism/death between 1905 (when they got married) and 1911 (census time)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Many Thanks!
