Gins

That is a very nice thing to do for that new poster .

We can all do nice things like this....makes for a much friendlier Genes .

That can only bring new members to the boards.

Sue :-D

Gins I too think that is a really good idea as so much info and time can be lost when the post just disappears from the screen. the boards are so boring when no one uses them much. The more people who join in the better

Gee

Gee Report 15 Sep 2012 11:48

Aww...thank you :-)

Never thought I'd say this to Gins - but "Well Done" !!

That's exactly the sort of constructive help I was referring to earlier.

Did the RR-er have the gumption to say what they'd done and why?

In future if you see a duplicate post either ignore it or report it do NOT post the link to the previous thread

Email from GR this morning

Dear jax

You recently added a message board response using your Genes Reunited membership.

'looking for daughters
Message Board Response
So have you deleted the other thread?
No here it is http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/living_relatives/thread/1309858 '

It has been brought to our attention that the nature of this posting breaches the Message Board guidelines and terms and conditions of our website and the item has now been removed from Genes Reunited.

If you wish to report duplicate posts please send us request reviews with details of each post.

We thank you in anticipation of your co-operation and adherence to the terms of your Genes Reunited membership.

Ignore a duplicate post :-S

The members cross ref to show the other thread so work is not duplicated. Going to end up with both threads getting reported

Gee

Gee Report 15 Sep 2012 12:38

Now now Maureen, you can stop that 'common sense' nonsense!!!

Oh dear and there was me trying to encourage more people to post to make the boards more interesting

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 15 Sep 2012 15:16

Well, I shall brazenly disregard GR's advice because it is more helpful to everyone to provide a cross-reference.

Just out of curiosity jax - had your post been reported or did this come out of the blue?

Gee

You naughty little rebel MC ;-)

Another example of GR losing the plot........

Gins,
Has that entire post, that you copied and pasted the information from, been deleted?

jax

jax Report 15 Sep 2012 16:24

That post was reported yesterday evening MC but from going to bed at 6 am till getting up at 11 three more of mine were rr'd and removed....nothing wrong with them...no emails yet

Now another has been reported....oh well :-D

Gee

Gee Report 15 Sep 2012 16:40

Patchem, looks like its gone. So either GR deleted it (which I suspect) or the OP did

I wish GR would 'read' the threads that are reported, rather than just hitting the delete button. There was nothing wrong with Edwards post except for his contact details

GR could have edited the post and removed his details without zapping it all together

............sigh

patchem

patchem Report 15 Sep 2012 16:50

Thank-you.
Yes, I wish genes would read the reported posts as many are innocuous.

jax

jax Report 15 Sep 2012 17:00

I reported a thread the other week because he put his phone number and email address but I asked GR to edit out those details rather than remove it

I had pm'd the poster straight away and he opened it but did'nt do anything so gave him 36 hours thats when I reported it....anyway they removed it.

I complained...and recieved this

Dear jax

Thank you for your email,

I can see the member has been advised to post the message again without this information.

Kind Regards,

Which is not quite right as I asked him to send a pm as it was an old thread

I dont think the staff have any idea to be honest

Gee

Gee Report 15 Sep 2012 18:01

Ja..x

Youre so cynical ;-)

jax

jax Report 15 Sep 2012 18:14

Thats right Gins :-)

Why do GR say this

We reserve the right to edit any post that breaches our terms & conditions or reveals any information we deem too personal.

But when you ask them to do it, they dont

Complete waste of time.....
