If it's the 1943 death then this is the probate:

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966
Name: Sarah Rebecca Renwick
Probate Date: 2 Feb 1944
Death Date: 23 Dec 1943
Death Place: Burton Upon Trent
Registry: Nottinghamshire, England

A widow of 13 Shobnall Street, Burton-on-Trent. Probate to Ellen Amelia Hardgrave (wife of Sidney Hardgrave). Effects £434 0s 9d

Which goes with this death:

England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2006
Name: Sarah R Renwick
Birth Date: abt 1859
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1943
Age at Death: 84
Registration district: Burton upon Trent
Inferred County: Staffordshire
Volume: 6b
Page: 423

Age isn't that much out and the info on the death record is only as good as the informant's knowledge.

Renn, I've just added some further detail. Bear in mind that details on death records may not be totally accurate.

Would she have had any connections to the Staffordshire area?

Might she have remarried after 1911? Who was your grandfather and when did he die?

There's also this one:

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966
Name: Serah Rebecca Renwick
Probate Date: 12 Mar 1927
Death Date: 27 Jan 1927
Death Place: Middlesex, England
Registry: London, England

Widow, of 25 Leinster Square, Bayswater, Middlesex. Probate to Neil Frederick Sinclair FRCS. Effects £944 15s 1d

That goes with this death:

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page
Deaths Mar 1927
Renwick Sarah 82 Paddington 1a 144

That would be a birth year of c1845, unless there was a mistake and the age should have been 72.

But the baptism contradicts?

London, England, Births and Baptisms, 1813-1906
Name: Sarah Rebecca Raymond
Record Type: Baptism
Baptism Date: 9 Dec 1863
Father's Name: Richard Raymond
Mother's Name: Maria Raymond
Parish or Poor Law Union: Lambeth Holy Trinity

Register Type: Parish Registers

born June 24.

(Looks like her parents had the whole family done together!) Renn probably has all this.

jax

jax Report 22 Sep 2012 20:07

I saw that MC but her birth is down as 1866/67 in all the census's after she married....so if her death can be found it is probably not going to be correct year of birth anyway.

renn Report 22 Sep 2012 20:09

hi jax the three cens that i have seen 1891 1901 1911 her age varies and dont quite add up i have her b c 2 7 1863 renn

jax

jax Report 22 Sep 2012 20:13

She lied about her age obviously. My grandfather lied about his age but if that lie is continued the age at death is going to be wrong, as no one knows any different

renn

renn Report 22 Sep 2012 20:35

jax what shoud have told you she could not write on my fathers b c where it says mothers name she put a x renn a bit like me

jax

jax Report 22 Sep 2012 20:43

That was quite normal not being able to write...but she could speak so when she was asked her age when she married, why say 21 when she was 24? I know its no big deal but either she did'nt know or she wanted to be younger than she was

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 22 Sep 2012 21:50

Back then I don't think accurate ages were as important as they are now.
