Elaine - if you go to your first post there should be a little box that says something like "mark this as unanswered", click on that to remove the completed indicator.

As Andy says, I'm struggling to find births that match.

(I see what you mean - Nora was adopted into the family with the three sisters)

Elaine - I'm struggling to find birth records for those three that all have the same mother's maiden name. Have you actually found their birth records.

Is Carr the name of the family that adopted them (either legally or otherwise) or is it the girls birth names?

Do you mean they were adopted in 1932? Seems odd, because Mary and Charlotte Muriel would be too old, I think, to be adopted.

yes their sisters and acousin called nora was adopted into the same family.she was born in 1923 so it would be about 1932 when this happened

Elaine - you'd need to buy the birth certificates. You can order from GRO
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

The records will give the mother's maiden name so you could try looking for a marriage on FreeBMD between Carr and the mother's surname.

EDIT: Are these three girls sisters?
