My Father would never talk about him and I was under the impression that he didn't get on with him. On my Dad and Mums's marriage Certificate his fathers name is down as Jack

Yes Alviegl. These are the details I have found and I have found the details in the 1911 census as well.

The 2 trees on ancestry I have seen have his parents as Fred and Emma. If you think his parents are James and Hope, it means that the owners of the trees have gone far wrong in their research.
They both have his death as 1921 but have nothing to back this up. I would buy the death certificate before I made any assumptions as the owners of the trees have already made mistakes.

I know about the 2 trees on Ancestry. I had my GParents down as Fred and emma in the beginning but then when I had the marriage certificate for Frederick and Agnes I saw the Fathers name was James so I changed my tree to James and Hope. I'm finding this very confusing and I think the only way to go is to get the birth certificates.
thanks for your help

I've thought about it and can't see that I will get anywhere if I get copies of the birth certificates as I still won't know which is the correct person.Would a copy of the death certificate help? I don't know.
Is it possible to get a census/electoral list for 1919 as I know where Frederick John Jefferies was living before his marriage.
