Hi everyone& thanks for looking! I have found a marriage for William Skinner & Elizabeth Garner in the IGI records: 7/12/1828 at St Paul's St Paul's Square Liverpool. I have also found on the same site a birth for a Eliz. Garner 4/11/1783 , daughter of Thos Garner & Jane in Barnborough Yorkshire but as yet can' t prove its her. I wonder if Barnborough is near Sowerby! - it does sound like Sorby!
Thanks everyone,
Chris

This is her in the 1851 Census ........ and ancestry has transcribed the place name as CORBY

It could be Sorby ............. the first letter is definitely not D ......... compare with other D's on the page.

I can't quickly find the censuses you mention to look at the informaiton.

Please can you give more information

when was Elizabeth born?

Is Skinner her maiden or married name?

what is the name of the Head of the household, and is it her father or husband.

Hi, is anyone good at deciphering handwriting? My 3x gt grandmother Elizabeth Skinner was living in Carpenters Row Liverpool on the 1841 census. The 1851 census says she was born in what looks like 'Dorby' Yorkshire & the 1861 census says Haliax Yorkshire so presume its a district of Halifax. Any help appreciated!
