Shirley, she's living with a Catherine, Joseph and Sarah Foxley in 1881. It's more than likely that they are her mother, brother and sister. |

So sorry I am only just coming back on to the community. I really do appreciate the help you have all given me. If I am forgiven then I would much appreciate help with Mary Foxley who married William Senior in Chorlton on Medlock 1875. Their marriage cert. gives the following info. but I am finding it difficult to connect Mary to any census before 1881. After that date there is no problem. |

No you are on the right track. It just means that in 1871 he was entered with his father/step fathers name. This wasn't unusual, although officially he was still Senior his mothers name before he married. |

Seems my joy was short lived. We must have the wrong William Senior because I have checked the 1871 census for Thomas Hurstfield and by then William's name had been changed to Hurstfield. The search goes on. :-( |

Yes I agree with you Mel. He was living with Thomas's parents at the time of the 1861 census and they obviously considered him to be their grandson as they listed him as such. |

WEll I think you can definately say that Thomas Hurstfield (boiler Maker) was put down as the father and of course he could have been William's father but Kate had him before they were married. |

Thomas Hurstfield's occupation is a Boiler Maker, same as William Senior's in the 1881 census. |
