Thanks everyone for your input. Flip: Yes, you are correct, Ellen Dickinson was aunt to the Craik and Dowey children. My mistake Vanessa and Gins: Thanks for suggesting and tracking down Eileen Walsh.
My guess is that when her brother Sydney went to Hospital with an "infectious disease", Eileen was sent to stay with a neighbour or relative. They then did not record her on the Census Form. mgnv: Thank you for the link to the Passenger lists. That has helped to confirm that "my" Eileen only joined her brothers in Canada in 1927. I had thought that she may have been in Canada as early as 1911. Her husband to be, Alfred Sanders according to my information arrived in Canada in 1924. In 1938 they then emigrated to South Africa where Alfred got a job on the gold mines.

No, like everyone else I haven't found Eileen in 1911 - not even in the same hospital as brother Sidney or with her grandfather & Ellen in Ormskirk.
Ellen Dickinson would not have been the Craik children's step-mother though, surely she was their aunt? She was also the aunt of William Downey, (according to immigration record) so a son of one of their other siblings,

Reply to "Flip" Thanks for your input. Ada Catherine Dowey (b 1873), (Eileen Craik's mother) had a half-sister Ellen Dowey (b 1879). She married Christopher Hardacre Dickinson, so she would have been the "Mrs Dickinson" mentioned as the "English relative" of the various Craiks who emigrated to Canada. As I see it, Ellen Dickinson would have been the step-mother of the various Craiks (Eileen, William Sydney, etc).
However, in the 1911 Census, Ellen Dickinson, her husband and daughter were living with her father Edward Dowey (Widower) at 3 Railway Road, Ormskirk.
Unfortunately no sign of Eileen Craik yet! Martin

Thanks everyone for your rapid response. I'll have to digest all the info that you sent me. Thanks to "Gins" and "PricklyHolly" for locating brother Sydney in the Hospital.
Eileen did emigrate to Canada in 1927 where she married Alfred Sanders in 1928. Eileen's father was Alexander Christopher Craik and he was a Steward on the ill-fated "Empress of Ireland" which sank in the St Lawrence in 1914. He was unfortunately drowned. His wife was Ada Catherine Dowey.
I'm still mystified as to where Eileen (age 4) was at the time of the 1911 Census.
The whole family of Craiks emigrated to Canada between 1921 and 1937. Their descendants live in Canada and South Africa today. Eileen and Alfred's daughter is my wife. Martin

According to the Canadian immigration record, they were going to join Mr W S Craik of 6th Avenue, Timmins, Ontario. There relative in England was Mrs Deakinson (Ada's sister) of 1E Knowsley Road, Ormskirk. Neither of them had been to Canada before.
William Dowey was her nephew, he was going to W S Craik, his cousin. However, he states aunt Mrs Dickinson as the England relative - of Knowsley Road.
