wow you guys are fantastic....ok here goes:
john(AKA Jack) cowburn born 1919 in hindley and died in 1974 in Fulham he was married to Norah Hallissey from Cork, his father was Thomas Cowburn and he married someone called Annie Moorfield (but my aunt said she thought her grand mother was Mary?), i always knew there was a family secret and it seem Annie has a child called Willie Moorfield born 1911 in wigan but not to Thomas. My Grandfather had a brother called Joseph who I believe was born in 1921 in Hindley Wigan...and a sister called Betty (who I believe lived with her half brother Billy as man and wife)...I also have an address where my grandfather parents used to live ...4 Gibbons Court, Ellesmere Street, Hindley Wigan.
I am so stuck......I dont have any family as such to ask...my mother was murdered when I was 25 and i only have an aunt and she doesnt know too much...any help would be so gratefully received.

Deborah, if you give some more info we may be able to help. Who was your grandfather? Where and when was he born? What were his parents' names? If you have found him on any census please post the details.

I am sure we could help if only we had some names and dates etc. but without any info I am afraid it is an impossible task ! :-(

Can you tell us what info you have and what you are looking for please and we can take a look?

I have been on here for a few months now and I am really stuck. I am trying to trace my grandfathers ancestry. I have his father and mothers names and I think I have found his grandfather...but when I try to do more indepth searches I just hit a blank.......I have gathered as much info as I can from an aunt but all other relatives are not around anymore. I am becoming really frustrated...can anyone help please?
