Find Ancestors

Would someone help me find out what happened to William & Ann Lovatt from Fenton Staffordshire married june1871. I found them on the 1881 census with a family but can't see them after that. Could I ask for help please.

What ages were they, where are they in 1881? Can you post the 1881 census that you have them in please.

Fenton is one of the six towns of the Stoke-on-Trent conurbation which were federated in 1910. It is situated in the south-east of the city.

Looks like they emmigated to the USA sometime before 1888 as their youngest daughter was born there.

Just posting the census would have helped to save trawling through Staffordshire William Lovatts of which there are more than a few! Fortunately they were still in the Fenton area but that may not have been the case. You knew who and where but we didn't. It gives us a starting point to go hunting.
It just helps us to help you Jean.

Possibly this marriage as the RD would be nearer to Ann's birthplace of Audley

Yes I see that there is a difference in maiden names. I was looking into the Chester Family and there daughter Ann and found the marriage on BMD June 1871.

Stuart - that's the wrong marriage, I'm sure. I believe it's the one to Ann Brassington that I posted above.

Her cemetary inscription in Connecticut calls her Ann Brassington Lovatt and Arthur's middle name was Brassington.

If it's the Chesters that Jean is researching then it would be the correct marriage but all of the info we've found would be irrelevant.

Jean, just to clarify - is it the Chesters you are researching?

If so, then none of the information we've posted on here is relevant as it relates to Ann Brassington and her family - a different William Lovatt.

Also, quite a few of their children are on Staffordshire BMD with MMN Brassington.....so if you are looking for Ann Chester, Jean, you are following the wrong family. :-(

MC - I too think it's Brassington, but inputting a marriage 1871 of William Lovatt to an Ann brings up those two
