Does the marriage certificate state whether Albert George is alive or dead, and what occupation?
Could you do a brief reference to the 4 censuses, so we can check the birthplaces of Essex and Breconshire?
Thanks

Sorry about this long post but is anyone willing to give me a 2nd opinion about my Gr,Gr Grandfather?
His name is Thomas George Dearson.

I have his death and marriage certificate which puts his date of birth as approx 1855/56. His marriage certificate says his father is Albert George Dearson (who I can find no trace of ).

Thomas George Dearson is on the 1911 and 1901 and 1891 Wales census as being born in Stratford, Essex. The 1881 Wales census has his birthplace as Talgarth, Breconshire??

I can’t find him on the 1871 or 1861 census in either England or Wales.

Doing a 1861 census search, I find a Francis Dearson with a son named Thomas Hill born 1854. Also on the census is her daughter- also named Frances Dearson aged 2.

I’ve found a marriage for a Frances Hill and a George Dearson in 1858, in Hackney. (I have a record of the parish register for this). I believe that Frances was a widow when she married George Dearson; therefore Thomas Hill was born to her 1st marriage.

On the 1861 census Frances’s husband George is not with her. In 1870 Frances dies.
On the 1871 census I find a Fanny Dearson age 12 in The West Ham Union Workhouse. This Frances later goes on to marry Edward Nash.

My question is- Was Thomas George Dearson born as Thomas HILL and took his mother’s surname as he was quite young when she died, and he probably didn’t know any different??

I know there is no definite way of proving this, but this mystery has had me baffled for years.

Thank you for reading this :-)
