I have a death certificate for a lady who died in the County Mental Hospital Lancaster on 15/05/1946 aged 72. I have been unable to access any further information on her from the Lancashire Archives can anybody advise or help.

what i wish to know is can i connect this lady to my family
i dont think i will be able to access her medical records on line due to privacy laws

The ladies name is Louisa Knight aged 72 I believe she may be my G/M if she is her maiden name was Whitfield born Liverpool 1874 fathers name given as John Whitfield on mrg cert . Mrd Richard Knight 1897

Does the death certificate not say if she was single, married or widowed please?

I take it the informant wasn't a relative.

I can't see her on any census with a father called John. Only the one Roots put up with father Samuel.

The death cert I have just says widowed /husbands name Knight it was whispered in the family that my G/m died in a mental hospital in Lancaster hence the dth cert that i have from the gro. Mrg cert says age 23 farther John. Unable to connect birth with a John for that year. What I would like to know whether i can connect Louisa Knight with my Richard perhaps through hospital records/archives.

The 1901 census is the only one that I can say is correct. Unable to trace her in any other

It's highly unlikely that the hospital would still have the medical records.

Anyway, it seems to have closed down years ago.
