Joseph Report 15 Jul 2014 23:44

Hi Marion

As a noob, I'm not sure what the etiquette is, so apologies to you (and others) if this is not the correct channel, but I'd be quite interested to see your Davidson tree, particularly the Doncaster connection.

Frances Burchett was my great great grandmother. My father (Bernard Marden) was evacuated from London during WWII, to step-relatives of some degree that I've never previously understood. The place he was evacuated to was Tickhill, just south of Doncaster. Now I'm inclined to think that it may have been a branch of the Davidsons that he was sent to. Years later when I was a kid in the 70s some of that family came to stay with us in London a couple of times, Do the names Chris and Enid feature in your tree at all?

Cheers

Joseph

Joseph Report 16 Jul 2014 13:10

Looking back over this thread, the 1891 census entries for the Davidson family appear to have solved one riddle for me, so many thanks whoever posted them. I think the Margaret Davidson named therein, who was 8 in 1891, is the same Margaret Davidson who at the age of 18 appears in the 1901 census for my great grandfather Reuben Marden's Sheerness household. She's listed as a visitor, and I assume was visiting my great grandmother Louisa Marden nee Burchett. I'm still not clear whether they were stepsisters or half-sisters, but I'll get there eventually :0)
