Maddie

That is the one we have found

David

David Report 5 Oct 2013 15:03

Potty

And that child died soon after - BUT there is no trace of an Ellen Day and certaiinly no marrage

David

David Report 5 Oct 2013 15:04

Perhaps Ellen Day is a false name to hide her past?

Gee

Gee Report 5 Oct 2013 15:05

Not sure that marriage is the same couple?

David

David Report 5 Oct 2013 15:08

Gins - Our Ellen Cushing is producing children AFTER the date of her death

Potty

Potty Report 5 Oct 2013 15:09

Gins, is that info on Ellen Havard from a tree on Ancestry which has her married to Edward Cushing and with the children we have above (except for the later ones b Derby?)

David

David Report 5 Oct 2013 15:10

Potty

The Interest point with Albert E T is that the E T could stand for Edward Thomas which are the names of 2 of the boys who were born in St Pancras and ended up in the workhouse (???)

Gee

Gee Report 5 Oct 2013 15:12

Potty, Ive added to the above tree. I dont it is sourced

Potty

Potty Report 5 Oct 2013 15:15

If that Ellen died in 1906, it would explain the children being in the workhouse but the tree on Ancestry has Edward snr dying in 1941 in kent

David, do you have the birth cert of any of the older children, to confirm the mother's maiden name.

Possibly if Edwards's first wife died, he might have remarried a woman with the same first name (it has happened in my family).

Potty

Potty Report 5 Oct 2013 15:22

David, you should be able to view the tree mentioned on Ancestry on the Mundia site:

David

David Report 5 Oct 2013 15:30

Ellen Day appears to be the maiden name of Albert E T Cushing in 1912 but I can find no trace of her marriage.

The 1911 census states they had been married since 1907 so your theory does stack up.

Perhaps therefore we have got the correct Edward Cushing but a different Ellen cushing ??

Gee

Gee Report 5 Oct 2013 15:40

There is a discrepancy on Ellens age. In 1911 she is 8 years younger than Edward but in 1901 only 1 year younger

Potty, your theory may add up

David you really need the childrens birth certificates

David

David Report 5 Oct 2013 15:45

This is all looking very possible and clearly I need to do more digging. Thank you to all for your help

If I find anything out I will let you know
