That gives me three different birth years for Hannah Carpenter?

1831 is way out....................censuses record birth years based on age at the time ...................which depends on when the census was taken.

She was almost certainly born in 1823

The only physical information I have on Hannah Carpenter is what looks like a funeral card that states

"Hannah Carpenter who departed this life December 25th 1888 aged 57 years"

It could be wrong info on the card if her kids never really knew her age maybe?

And is that definitely William's mother?

Have you looked at freebmd for backup?

IF......this is her baptism..................the 1841 census I posted is not correct

I think you're going to struggle with Hannah................it seems that she may have been illegitimate

That one also shows no fathers name... How peculiar.

The last posts by Gins and myself are census records...................and in 1841, relationships were not recorded.

And if the record posted by Gins is of a family, it could be that the 'father' was deceased.
