Hello again.

After being linked to FreeBMD by Reggie (Thank You!) My grandad has me hunting down the other side of his tree.

To simplify things I'm going to write it out from scratch.

Barry Ball (My grandad) born in 1936
Bertie Ball (His Dad) born in 1911 to
Joseph William Ball born in 1884 (approx)

From the BMD site I've found out that he married Lucy Jones in 1907 and she was possibly born in 1885 and died young in 1918 (If its the right person).

I'm looking for census information as far back as possible. Plus, I'm only finding records of Joseph William Ball dying in 1970 in Belper... I cannot find any other Joseph William in the deaths... am I doing something wrong? I'm sure there is more than one Joseph William Ball to pass away in the last 100 years?

The census info I have found has them living in Blackwell once married. blackwell is a mining village. Or at least it was back then.

I'd like to go as far as possible up the Ball line (I'm a Ball and I married a Ball, it would be good to know we aren't related down the line!)

Thank you for any help.
