Thank you so much I now need to add to my tree, and sort out what info I have, so confusing with all the same names. So looks like they did not change the spelling of the name, well if they did was further back. At least I can carry on looking in UK . I had visions of having to try maybe find German ancesters

Pauline, there seem to be two John Fredericks born about the same time. Are you sure yours married Ellen Hanrahan (ie have you worked back to him by buying marriage and birth certs of his children?)

John and Ellen's had 5 children baptised on the same day, July 2nd 1892. They were:

John Frederick, b 12 Sep 1880, Ellen Beatrice, b 1881 (22 July?), Ernest Arthur b 29 ?? 1883, May Ann? b 23 ?? 1886, and James ??? b ?? July 1890. The image isn't very clear in places, hence the ??.

John's occupation is given as Type Founder (which I guess means he made typefaces) - same occupation as on marriage to Ellen.

We now know that John was a 'House Painter', not an 'Artist' !!

You do have the right one , as I actually new most of them . Ellen Beatrice was my Great Aunt, Mary Ann was my Grandmother., , they both married brothers (Foster)
Mary ann died in 1920 when my mother was 6 years old , so Ellen B and her husband (had no kids) so bought up my Mum and Brother, as Gran father died six weeks before my Mum was born Quiet a sad story really
I must stop now, still trying to sort all the JF Rensch out. Be back later (Blow the ironing 0 it can wait.
I actually met a lot of the Rensch family (Shows my age!!)
