Article text:"A ship's steward named John Berg (64) Baltic Street, Leith, was charged at South Shields, yesterday, with having, as alien enemy, entered prohibited area without the permission of the registration offi'cer, on Nov. 22. Defendant was described a native of Heineridorf, near Breslau, Germany and it was stated that he had been sailing in ships since 1907 as a Belgian. He had made no effort to disclose his real identity since the Aliens Act came into force although he had been to places like Swansea, Newport and Cardiff.
The case was adjourned and the defendant was remanded for 8 days.

In 2002 Delphia Mansley was living in Dumbarton, Glasgow

Delphia Beckett is my wifes mother and Robert Mansley her father, both dead.

More info about John Berg - on the 1888 birth certificate of Cecilia his profession is shown as a 'Steward in Steamship' and on the 1919 marriage certificate of Cecilia as a 'Ships' Steward'

I've found a picture of John and Cecilia together, Cecilia looking about 6-7 years old, photo taken in Newcastle.

Wonder if this is why he doesn't show on 1891 census?

All the information you have posted is correct. No trace of John at all after Cecilias birth though he is stated in Cecilia's wedding to Herbert Beckett in 1919. Joseph died in South Shields in 1889.There is no mention of Henry in Cecilia's marriage certificate as a witness. Jessie died in 1892 just after the census - I cant find what happened to Cecilia after her mum died between 1891 and 2011. Where was John?

I guess this is his marriage as in opening post but I haven't foundanything else on him yet
