Sorry, Patricia, I forgot to reply re where I'd got information from.

The results I posted on page 1 were from ancestry.co.uk, which is a subscription site.

There are lots of free sites that can help with research. Might be a good idea to read through a few threads to see where helpers get their in from. Also, don't forget Google - its surprising what you can find.

Here are some sites that you could look for:

freebmd - bmd indexes for England & Wales from 1837 to approx. 1950 - has a really good search engine.

freereg - transcriptions of parish registers for England and Scotland for baptisms, marriages and deaths - you will need this type of info when you get back to pre-1837

parish clerks online - for various parts of the country - transcriptions of parish registers - the Lancashire one is particularly good. The usually have an email contact for some of the parishes.

Hi Patricia, you have asked several times to no avail, to know where some of this info was coming from, and I would think you feel like most of us, you would rather make the discoveries yourself :-)

this source was posted early in the thread but not in clickable form so you may have missed it

https://familysearch.org/search

is where to find quite a lot of Irish records for the mid-late 1800s and early-mid 1900s

I'm not sure whether there is much left for you to find, bit of a shame, but give that a whirl !

John Leesons Birth (parents as listed by Mel) can be found on..

www.family search.org.

There are also other children listed for this couple but I would wait for your Cert to arrive before looking though and assuming they may be your family....

I have another question my great grand maternal side worked a farm I think they owned it is there any deed register in Ireland for such things???

Morning Patricia,

It sounds as though you are getting really excited about finding new rellies for your tree just like I was when I started.

It can get addictive you know.

You really need to buy the marriage cert of Richard Leeson and Elizabeth to make sure about his fathers name and her fathers name and occupation then we may be able to go back further. Don't just assume his father was John. I saw that on familysearch but without the cert I did'nt put it up.
