I think you're missing a child, on 15/7/1866 Thompson Fairfax was christened, along with Russell Fletcher Webster age 2.5years. The address given was Chigwell House, Redhill, and fathers occupation states "gentleman" christened at St Matthews, Redhill. |

Richard was a merchant according to his marriage "full age" and a widower, but as he is not with Julia on the 1861 census it's difficult to know his age and place of birth. |

Mistycat's 1895 marriage looks right - she married John Oxford, they are on 1901 census - Julia born Bradford, but she's taken 10 years off her age! |

On the Bradford marriage, it says he lived in Dublin at the time |

So probably not him, if Chris's link is correct - they celebrated their golden wedding in 1891! |

Could this be Richards death? |

I think this might be Sarah just before the marriage. Father is listed as a Wool Stapler which is someone trading in wool. The marriage has her father as a Wool Merchant |

I think Richard & Sarah are in Jersey in 1881/91 - he is a retired leather merchant. I wonder if he was naughty and married Julia bigamously, but got back with wife? Can't spot them 1861/71 though, although 2 of the children are with an aunt in Derbyshire. |
