Got him - he's just W C

UK, Railway Employment Records, 1833-1956
Name: W C Stark
Residence Date: 16 Aug 1888
Company: London, Chatham and Dover (East Kent)
Description: Register of injuries to workmen 1880 - 1891

Although it doesn't sound as though he was seriously hurt maybe it put him off a life on the railways as can't see him after this.

There are no entries on this record after 1881 which seems to tie in with the 1882 retirement I mentioned above so suggests the record again relates to the father:

UK, Railway Employment Records, 1833-1956
Name: Walter Stark
Residence Date: 18 Oct 1877
Company: London, Chatham and Dover (East Kent)
Description: Register of staff at Longhedge works and outstations 1860 - 1881

Kevin, could you point us in the direction of the records that relate to Walter Charles?

Kevin

Kevin Report 12 Jul 2014 10:29

Yes Walters father also called Walter also worker for the same rail company as a driver and was indeed born in 1833

Kevin

Kevin Report 12 Jul 2014 10:26

My Walter was a fireman (coalman) on the railways, would be a big leap in proffession tho not impossible.

Not too sure about that Mel, there are people who are far better than me at finding census fugitives!
EDIT: Refers to the comment about me not finding them, not the record Mel has posted above!

Kevin, is this the railway employment record you refer to?

UK, Railway Employment Records, 1833-1956
Name: Walter Stark
Residence Date: 15 Jan 1862
Station: Battersea
Company: London, Chatham and Dover (East Kent)
Description: Register of staff at Longhedge works and outstations 1864 - 1918

This one relates to the father Walter born 1833. If you read the image the date of appointment was 1862 and this Walter Stark left when he retired in 1882.
