Think we really need Linda to come back with some confirmation. The death for Sarah Cordell was much later than she thought - so are we actually on the right family?? I think we are, but who knows.

I'm thinking Robert A Cossington born in 1921 was "Nobby", Ada A born in 1925 died in infancy.

I have already sent Linda a pm advising her of the info on here.

Hi Linda,

Welcome back to your thread - so you are actually looking to come forward from the family maybe finding the children's marriages & descendants?

I'm not very comfortable about posting living people, but I got the Cossington birth wrong for Robert A- there was no middle initial. He was registered in1921 West Ham, looks to have married in 1949 (Poplar) to a Ms Courtnell - they had 4 children, (look for them on freebmd) between 1950-59). He died in Southend in 1997 (dob 26/6/1921).

The only other child I can find is Eileen, who may have married a Mr Cash in 1963. (Haven't looked for George T as obviously connected to your cousin) Cash/Cordell appear to have had a son and daughter.

Is there a chance the other two children emigrated, not seeing any obvious marriages/deaths for them?

Thanks for the PM Linda, I haven't managed to find out anything on the other 2 children, Louisa and Amelia apart from their births.

However, I wonder if one of them was later known as Marie L Cordell - who looks to have married a Mr Noakes in 1965 - does this name ring any bells?

Sarah Alice Cordell seems to disappear but is on the 1964 ER living at 9 Leggatt Road, Stratford, along with Eileen and Marie L. Then in 1965 still at the same address but Eileen is no longer with them - she's with husband in Ilford.

I think she & Robert must have split up as he lives elsewhere. Although he married as Robert H, and his death in 1970 is also as Robert Henry I think he was originally Henry Robert, born in 1902. Almost sure this is him in 1911:

Robert H Cordell
Age in 1911:9
Estimated birth year:abt 1902
Relation to Head:Son
Gender:Male
Birth Place:Bow, London, England
Civil Parish:West Ham
County/Island:Essex
Country:England
Street address:27 High Street, Stratford, Essex
Marital Status:Single
Occupation:school
Registration district:West Ham
Registration District Number:188
Sub-registration district:Stratford
ED, institution, or vessel:1
Household schedule number:12
Piece:9342
Household Members:
NameAge

George T Cordell 39
Louisa Cordell 34
Margaret Cordell 17
Grace Cordell 15
Amelia E Cordell 11
Robert H Cordell 9
George T Cordell 6

And his christening:

Henry Robert Cordell
Record Type:Baptism
Baptism Date:5 Mar 1902
Father's Name:George Thomas Cordell
Mother's name:Louisa Cordell
Parish or Poor Law Union:Bromley St Leonard St Mary
Borough:Tower Hamlets
Register Type:Parish Registers

Born 16/2/1902 - so whoever registered his death was a bit out on his age.

i think you could do with getting a copy of the marriage certificate for Robert Cordell/Sarah to confirm their father's names are correct before going any further back with their ancestry.

Especially as I think he was originally Henry Robert rather than Robert H - and there is another Robert H born in 1900 in West Ham. He was Robert Hector (father William) who died in 1973 - although I think he married in 1929 to an Ada, it does put some doubts as to which is the correct one.
