bet their names have got added to the previous family listed

OR

they were missed off the census fro some reason.

I tried everything I know to find them, from soundex to surnames only to forenames only, even to birthplace only! ............. and also initials only in case they were in an institution

Good day Flip ............. I had a very good sleep, thank you!

I came looking before having breakfast, hoping you had managed to crack the mystery!

Chris :-)

Flip Report 27 Sep 2014 15:37

PM received from Poppina thanking us for our efforts - it's best to post on here so others can see you've got the info though.

Maybe someone else can find Esther in 1871? I can't see her on ancestry and only have a temporary (the 1 month special offer) on FMP but am struggling with their search criteria!! Bring back the old site ;-)

The address given on 4 christenings in 1872 was 112 Chalton Street - have checked the address in 1871 but they were not there, and can't find them elsewhere.

Not having any luck in finding Esther Nobbin or Thomas (Willey) in 1871. Do you already have this census?

I'd guess the name got changed along the line

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 27 Sep 2014 07:33

I looked at the freebmd image of her marriage ........... and it is Welling

It is handwritten, and I wondered if there was a possibility of mis-transcription

Marriages Jun 1864 (>99%)

Nobbin Edward Benjamin Pancras 1b 67
Welling Esther Hansford Pancras 1b 67

Flip Report 27 Sep 2014 07:31

I agree Sylvia, so either she had another husband in between or the name got changed a bit. I'd be inclined to believe the latter.

That 1851 census that you found fits with the 1861 that I found ................... with Clara as the daughter
